Spring lamb: Get this delicacy year-round at these spots
Natraj’s Tandoori offers a dozen lamb specialties at The Market Place and Quail Hill Shopping Center. From its tandoori oven come tikka kebabs and the naan-wrapped kathi roll. Other entrees include aromatic rogan josh, spicy vindaloo, creamy tikka masala and intense lamb Madras. Saag spotlights spinach; keema mutter translates “mince and peas.”
Mediterranean magnet Irvine Grill at Quail Hill Shopping Center prides itself on its New Zealand lamb. A half dozen guises include grilled chops, grilled boneless kabobs and slow- cooked shank. Barg is barbecued, abgoosht features shank and neck, soltani is ground and grilled. Rack of lamb stars on the elaborate Aria platter.
Grande dame chef Zov Karamardian puts a contemporary spin on Mediterranean fare at Orchard Hills Shopping Center’s Zov’s Bistro. Her sensuous spicy lamb burger – with sundried tomato, red onion, feta and red-pepper aioli – is on the cover of the cookbook “Simply Zov.” Tzatziki and pickled onions complement her rosemary-garlic lamb chops starter.
Northern Café, at Westpark Plaza and University Center, spotlights dishes of Northern China. The spicy sauerkraut lamb hot pot presents its namesake sauerkraut and sliced lamb with clams, crab sticks, pork mini-sausages, tempura, tofu, three kinds of mushrooms and a world of flavor. Others include juicy lamb dumplings and cumin lamb stir-fry.
