Stars of Restaurant Week: Luxe Week

Only during Orange County Restaurant Week, on through Saturday, can you find a Columbia River steelhead sandwich plus sweet potato fries and seasonally inspired soup … for $20. That lunch is an option at Paul Martin’s American Grill at Irvine Spectrum Center.

For something more extravagant, Luxe Week serves more elevated fine-dining experiences.

Nine courses at Quail Hill’s elegant O Fine Japanese Cuisine begin with oysters topped with ikura, chopped toro and 24-karat edible gold flake. The exquisite $135 menu also presents Hokkaido scallop sashimi; snow crab, sea urchin and Japanese A5 Wagyu tempura; 10 pieces of sashimi and sushi; and lobster truffle silky steamed egg.

Stars of the celebrated culinary event also include a $125-per-person five-course dinner at Benny & Mary’s at Irvine Towers. Special-menu attractions at the whimsical, sophisticated destination include hiramasa sashimi; day-boat scallops with orzo risotto, pork belly, English pea puree and lobster-butter sauce; and bone-in osso buco.

The same price at Hyatt Regency Irvine’s Warehouse 72 – known for its modern design, modern art and modern bistro menu – brings four courses. Among the choices are a ricotta dumpling with black truffle and sugar snap peas; Maine lobster; and a mango-lilikoi cake with sunset sorrel.
